After months of anticipation, Who Do You Think You Are? LIVE made a triumphant return to Olympia in London at the weekend, with family historians journeying from around the country to enjoy three days of talks, workshops and exhibitors – including, of course, the Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine team.
From the time the doors opened on Friday morning, it was clear that this year’s event was going to be the biggest and best so far. Even the torrential rain hadn’t managed to dampen people’s spirits, and by mid-morning the enormous Olympia National Hall was packed.
Among the first attractions was an appearance by impressionist Rory Bremner, kicking off the show’s celebrity talks with tales of his experiences filming Who Do You Think You Are?. A rapt audience heard how his discoveries had changed not only how he saw his ancestors, but the emphasis he now places on his own family.
Visitors lucky enough to be at the show over the whole weekend also shared the emotional reminiscences of wildlife presenter Kate Humble and the ever-popular Esther Ranzten, who even took time out to visit the Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine stand.
It was the chance to meet hundreds of eager genealogists that proved the most exciting feature of our weekend, however. As well as hearing many of the great stories behind your research we were also offering some fantastic deals, including a weekend break for one new subscriber to our weekly e-newsletter. We're pleased to announce that the lucky winner was Susan Peck – congratulations!
Whether you came to say hello at the stand or couldn't make it to the show this year, we'll have a full report from the event in our April issue, on sale on 23 March. And to stay informed about exclusive news and offers, sign up to our newsletter now.
