John Hurt - talk about the show

John Hurt

I have only just found this website. I enjoyed the John Hurt programme as I also descend from William Hurt and would have liked to hear more about this lineage. My 5X Great Grandmother was Ellen Hurt who married William Walker at Eakring 16 August 1759 . She was the grand-daughter of William Hurt I believe. So John Hurt must be some far distant cousin to me. It may sound far-fetched but when I look at photographs of John Hurt I can see certain resemblances to closer male family members! So I really think family characteristics can be spread across the branches of family trees.

Hi Brenchat

How interesting to read about your Eakring Hurt connections. All Eakring Hurts are related as we all descend from one couple, so you are quite right - John Hurt will be a distant cousin. It's a pity your post came too late for me to let you know that the triennial Hurt Family Reunion was held in Eakring on Saturday 27th September. It was the most successful reunion yet with Hurts (or people with Hurt ancestry) travelling from all parts of the UK to attend. The weather was glorious - it always is for the Hurt Reunions! There's a commemorative booklet available too.

Please email me on hurt@one-name.org and I can tell you more.
