Another wonderful programme.

The research provided some moments of irony and pain. Ainsley's reaction to the revealation that the policeman may have inherited brothels from his mother was shocking in its honesty. His ancestors did what did in order to survive and Ainsley recognised that without flinching.

But how on earth do you come to terms with the knowledge that your ancestors owned slaves?

We can't change our ancestors, but my goodness - sometimes it's hard to comprehend.

Yes, how can you accept that you have an ancestor who was a slave owner, especially when the majority of your ancestors were slaves!?!

Ainsley Harriott felt rather angry when he discovered to have a salve owner in his ancestry!

Has this programme (or any other in the series) ever been broadcast before it was shown in early September this year? I was discussing the programme with a neighbour & she is convinced she had seen it before (as well as the David Suchet episode).

Is she right?

The episode with Ainsley was extremely good, although very moving a lot of the time too.

I don't know if this episode (Ainsley Harriott) had been shown before, but it was thoroughly enjoyable.
